Legislative bodies may revoke obsolete property rehabilitation exemption certificates if rehabilitation completion does not occur within the authorized timeframe or if the holder fails to proceed in good faith with facility operation, unless circumstances beyond the holder's control prevent compliance.

Certificate holders may request revocation of their own exemption certificate by sending certified mail to the local legislative body, which may then revoke it by resolution.

Revoked certificate holders or subsequent owners may request reinstatement of a revoked certificate by submitting a written request to the legislative body and the commission, along with a resolution of concurrence from the local governmental unit.

The commission may reinstate a revoked obsolete property rehabilitation exemption certificate for the original holder or a subsequent owner if the facility continues to qualify under the act.

The act became effective June 28, 2018.
