Increases the age threshold for separation requirements from under 16 years to under 18 years for children in custody, confinement, or conviction situations.

Prohibits placement of children under 18 in cells or apartments with one or more adults who are under arrest, confinement, or conviction for a crime.

Prohibits transportation of children under 18 in vehicles used to transport inmates together with adults charged with or convicted of a crime.

Requires all cases involving children under 18 years of age for any crime or misdemeanor to be heard and determined by the court at a separate time and apart from trials of other criminal cases.

Makes violation of these provisions a misdemeanor offense, effective October 1, 2018.
