Only suppliers, licensed direct shippers, and wholesalers may sell, deliver, or import beer, wine, or mixed spirit drink in Michigan, with limited exceptions for individuals bringing liquor for retailers or sacramental wines.

Licensed direct shippers may sell directly to consumers, while out-of-state sellers and manufacturers must deliver through designated wholesalers to reach individual retail locations.

Wholesalers must keep delivered beer, wine, or mixed spirit drink on their licensed premises and make it available for commission inspection for at least 24 hours before delivering to retailers.

Wholesalers may bypass the 24-hour holding requirement if they cannot fulfill a retailer's order from current inventory or if delivering to special licensees, provided documentation is maintained and the product was properly delivered or picked up.

Brewers, micro brewers, wine makers, small wine makers, and retailers retain authority to sell alcoholic liquor and nonalcoholic beverages under existing law.
