Department of Education must develop age-appropriate informational materials about sexual assault and sexual harassment by June 1, 2019, in consultation with experts including the Michigan domestic and sexual violence prevention and treatment board.

Informational materials must include definitions of sexual assault and harassment, explanation that assault/harassment is not the victim's fault, and resources including Title IX information, contact information for victim assistance organizations, and available actions individuals may take.

School districts, intermediate school districts, and public school academies must distribute the materials to all students in grades 6-12 and include Title IX coordinator contact information, school policies on sexual assault and harassment, and anti-retaliation protections in student handbooks and websites.

Beginning in the 2019-2020 school year, schools are encouraged to partner with local organizations funded by the Michigan domestic and sexual violence prevention and treatment board to provide training to educators and school personnel on responding to students who have experienced sexual assault or harassment at least every 5 years.

Bill takes effect 90 days after enactment into law.
