Amends Michigan Penal Code section 81d to expand protections against assault to include health professionals and medical volunteers, in addition to existing protections for police officers, firefighters, and other officials.

Creates specific criminal penalties for assaulting health professionals or medical volunteers: up to 2 years imprisonment or $2,000 fine for basic assault; up to 4 years or $5,000 fine if bodily injury requiring medical attention results; up to 15 years or $10,000 fine if serious impairment of body function results; up to 20 years or $20,000 fine if death results.

Defines "health professional" as employees of hospitals or health care providers whose duties involve direct patient care and require licensure or certification under Michigan's public health code.

Defines "medical volunteer" as volunteers at hospitals or health care facilities providing direct or indirect patient care under facility direction.

Allows hospitals and health professionals to elect to report violent acts to law enforcement when committed by individuals with disabilities or diseases where the violence is a clear manifestation of their health condition; takes effect 90 days after enactment.
