MI HB6246

Creates a lead-safe homes fund within the state treasury to receive and manage money and assets from any source for lead hazard abatement programs.

Directs the state treasurer to invest fund money and credit all interest and earnings back to the fund, with unspent balances carried forward each fiscal year rather than lapsing to the general fund.

Authorizes the department to expend appropriated money from the fund for lead-based paint abatement measures, lead elimination from drinking water and household water systems, and implementation costs.

Designates the department as administrator of the fund for auditing purposes.

Ties effectiveness to passage of HB 6243, HB 6244, HB 6245, and HB 6247, and approval of the Clean Michigan Initiative reauthorization by voters at the next general election.
