Amends MCL 257.311a to remove outdated references to specific sections of the Code of Criminal Procedure and replace them with a reference to 1966 PA 257, MCL 780.64, regarding court authority to require surrender of operator's or chauffeur's licenses.

Requires courts to issue a receipt when a person accused of a misdemeanor or ordinance violation surrenders their non-expired, non-suspended, non-revoked license, with the form approved by the Secretary of State and designed to accommodate a photocopy of the license.

Grants the receipt holder driving privileges identical to the surrendered license, effective until the receipt or license expires, whichever occurs first.

Authorizes the Secretary of State to renew an operator's or chauffeur's license under section 314 if it expires while surrendered to the court.

Takes effect 90 days after enactment and is contingent on the passage of HB 6456.
