Director of Michigan State Police may authorize limited arrest powers for state security personnel protecting state-owned or leased property and facilities through written authorization on prescribed forms

Limited arrest authority may only be exercised while security employees are on duty, on state property, and wearing a uniform identifying them as state security employees

Limited arrest authority is automatically rescinded upon termination of employment with the state

Director may authorize security employees to carry firearms while on duty

Security employees granted limited arrest authority are not entitled to membership in state police pension, accident, and disability plans under the State Police Retirement Act of 1986 (MCL 38.1601 to 38.1675) or similar departmental programs
