HB 6525 Summary

• Adds new subsection (6) allowing individuals to transport or possess loaded firearms in vehicles (including ATVs and UTVs) on private land with permission of the owner or a lessee with a term of at least 1 year.

• Defines "ATV" as a 3+ wheel off-road vehicle with low-pressure tires and 50cc to 1,000cc engine, and "UTV" as a 4+ wheel off-road vehicle with similar specifications and side-by-side seating.

• Maintains existing restrictions on firearm transportation in vehicles, including requirements that firearms be unloaded and cased, unloaded in vehicle trunks, or unloaded in motorized boats, with specified exceptions.

• Preserves existing exceptions for disabled persons on licensed game bird hunting preserves, individuals on sporting clays ranges, and permit holders hunting from standing vehicles on personal assistive mobility devices.

• Renumbers subsequent subsections accordingly to account for the new private land provision.
