Calls on Congress to maintain full funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) rather than implementing proposed cuts.

Highlights that the Great Lakes contain 20 percent of the world's surface freshwater and 90 percent of U.S. surface freshwater, providing drinking water for over 30 million people and supporting 1.5 million jobs generating $62 billion in wages.

Notes GLRI has invested more than $2 billion in over 2,900 projects since 2010, including $425 million for over 500 projects in Michigan, resulting in restoration of 150,000 acres of habitat and opening 3,400 miles of river access.

Opposes President Trump's 2018 budget proposal to eliminate GLRI funding through a $300 million cut, characterizing it as short-sighted given ongoing challenges including toxic algal blooms and contaminated sediments.

Directs transmission of the resolution to the President of the U.S. Senate, Speaker of the U.S. House, and Michigan's congressional delegation.
