Requests Congress maintain funding for federal programs supporting Great Lakes restoration, protection, and economic vitality.

The Great Lakes hold 20 percent of the world's surface freshwater and 90 percent of U.S. surface freshwater, providing drinking water to over 30 million people and supporting 1.5 million jobs generating $62 billion in wages.

The Great Lakes Restoration Initiative has invested over $2 billion in more than 2,900 projects over seven years to clean toxic pollution, reduce runoff, combat invasive species, and restore fish and wildlife habitat.

The National Sea Grant Program, operating in 30 states for over 50 years, supports university research and provides outreach and education to help commercial and recreational fishers, boaters, and coastal communities sustainably use coastal resources.

Directs copies of the resolution be sent to the President of the U.S. Senate, Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, and Michigan's congressional delegation.
