Declares June 13, 2018, as USCGC Escanaba Day in Michigan to honor the U.S. Coast Guard cutter built in Bay City, Michigan in 1932.

USCGC Escanaba served at Station Grand Haven from 1932-1941, providing lifesaving, ice breaking, and law enforcement services on the Great Lakes, including rescuing the crew of the SS Henry Cort.

Ship was deployed to the North Atlantic during World War II as part of the Greenland Patrol and pioneered the use of rescue swimmers.

On June 13, 1943, the USCGC Escanaba was destroyed by an explosion while on patrol in the North Atlantic, resulting in 103 deaths with only 2 survivors.

Copies of the resolution are to be transmitted to the City of Ferrysburg, City of Grand Haven, and Village of Spring Lake to commemorate the ship and the officers and men who served aboard her.
