School district and public school academy boards must grant high school credit to grades 11-12 students who complete an internship or work experience for at least 4 hours per week for the same duration required to earn credit in a traditional course.

Internships and work experiences qualifying for credit may be paid or unpaid.

School boards must excuse students from at least 1 hour of instructional time each day they attend a qualifying internship or work experience.

Boards cannot require students to attend internships or work experiences more than 10 hours per week.

School boards must exercise oversight to ensure students meet the requirements for credit under this section.
