SB-0190 Summary

• Amends the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act to update citations to security guard licensing laws in four sections governing personal information disclosure for watercraft, off-road vehicles (ORVs), and snowmobiles.

• Changes references from the "Private Security Guard Act of 1968" and "Private Detective License Act of 1965" to the "Private Investigator Licensure Act" and clarifies licensing under the Occupational Code Article 14A and Security Alarm Systems Act.

• Allows licensed private security guard agencies, private investigators, security guard agencies, and system providers to access personal information from registration records for purposes permitted under each section (safety, theft prevention, research, litigation, etc.).

• Adds new allowance for watercraft and ORV rental businesses to access personal information for making rental decisions.

• Takes effect January 1, 2018.
