Senate Bill 531 Summary

• Increases maximum weekly unemployment benefit rate from $362.00 to $603.00 for claims filed on or after October 1, 2017, with annual adjustments based on consumer price index beginning October 1, 2018.

• Increases dependent allowance from $6.00 to $20.00 per dependent and raises maximum number of claimable dependents from 5 to 6.

• Changes benefit reduction rate for partial earnings from 40 cents to 50 cents per dollar of remuneration earned in a benefit week, effective October 1, 2015.

• Reduces maximum benefits cap from 26 weeks to 20 weeks for claims filed on or after January 15, 2012, while maintaining 14-week minimum.

• Modifies benefit payment reduction formula for partial earnings from 1-3/5 times weekly benefit amount to 1-1/2 times weekly benefit amount, effective October 1, 2015.
