Senate Bill 716 Summary

• Amends the criminal procedure code to expand sentencing guidelines applicability from chapters 400-407 to chapters 400-408 of the Michigan Compiled Laws.

• Adds eleven felony offenses to the sentencing guidelines table, including welfare fraud, charitable organization violations, multiple Medicaid fraud offenses, adult foster care violations, and wage/fringe benefit payment violations.

• Establishes sentencing classifications and statutory maximum penalties for new offenses, ranging from 2 to 10 years imprisonment depending on the offense category and severity.

• Takes effect 90 days after enactment, contingent upon Senate Bill 717 of the 99th Legislature also being enacted into law.
