School districts, intermediate school districts, and public school academies are prohibited from banning students from participating in interscholastic athletics based on transferring to the school, regardless of transfer reason, effective with the 2017-2018 school year.

School boards and public school academy boards are forbidden from adopting resolutions or agreements that prevent compliance with the transfer student athletic participation requirement.

Any resolutions or agreements adopted before this law's effective date that prevented transfer students from participating in athletics are void.

The amendatory act takes effect 90 days after enactment.
