School districts, intermediate school districts, and public school academies must provide annual stipends to master teachers who mentor teachers under section 1526 for up to 3 years

Stipend amounts are $500 for mentoring 1 teacher, $1,000 for mentoring 2 teachers, and $2,000 for mentoring 3 or more teachers per school year, disbursed at the end of each school year

Stipend requirements do not apply to districts with existing collective bargaining agreements that prevent compliance, until the agreement expires

The state department shall reimburse schools for costs incurred under this requirement, subject to appropriation

The law takes effect 90 days after enactment
