Requires hospices providing services in patients' private homes to establish and implement a written controlled substance disposal policy within 90 days of the department promulgating rules.

Mandates hospices offer assistance with disposing of controlled substances prescribed to patients, including education on safe disposal locations and techniques.

Requires hospices to document whether patients or families accept or refuse disposal assistance when controlled substances are no longer needed or upon patient death (within 72 hours).

Specifies that controlled substance disposal must be performed and witnessed by a competent adult, either by hospice employee or patient/family member, and must occur in the patient's private home.

Exempts the delivery of controlled substances for disposal purposes from controlled substance diversion violations under Michigan law.
