Schools, intermediate school districts, and public school academies must provide annual reports to the Michigan State Police on attempted acts of violence and threats of violence that were prevented or thwarted on school grounds.

Reports must include descriptions of incidents and how they were prevented or thwarted, but must exclude the school name, names of individuals involved, and any identifying information.

The State Police must compile annual reports from schools and provide them to the school safety commission created under the comprehensive school safety plan act.

Reports are exempt from disclosure under Michigan's Freedom of Information Act.

Effective 90 days after enactment into law.
