• Establishes the "Michigan School Safety Grant Act" to create three grant programs: school resource officer grants, school mental health professional grants, and school building security grants, administered by the Department of Education.

• School resource officer grants provide 3-year funding (100% year 1, 67% year 2, 33% year 3) to school districts, intermediate districts, and public school academies to contract for new or additional law enforcement officers, with priority given to districts without any school resource officers.

• School mental health professional grants fund employment of new school counselors, psychologists, and social workers to achieve student-to-professional ratios of 250:1 for counselors, 700:1 for psychologists, and 400:1 for social workers.

• School building security grants support technology, equipment, building upgrades, and annual safety assessments to improve physical security of school facilities, with priority for applicants partnering with law enforcement and mental health agencies.

• Creates the Michigan School Safety Grant Fund with money allocated as follows: up to 40% for school resource officers, up to 40% for mental health professionals, and up to 20% for building security; takes effect 90 days after enactment.
