Secretary of State may issue one personalized vehicle registration plate for passenger vehicles, trucks, motorcycles, vans, motor homes, hearses, buses, trailers, and similar vehicles instead of standard plates.

Applicants for original personalized plates must pay $8.00 for the first month and $2.00 per month for each additional month of the registration period, plus regular registration fees; duplicate plates cost an additional $5.00 service fee.

Renewal of personalized plates requires a $15.00 service fee in addition to regular registration fees; renewal fees are credited to the Michigan Transportation Fund and allocated by the state transportation department for litter pickup and cleanup on state roads.

Secretary of State shall issue new tabs upon plate issuance and renewal showing expiration dates; personalized plate sequences cannot be reissued to a different person unless the original holder fails to reapply before expiration.

Bill takes effect 90 days after enactment into law.
