Supports the city of Detroit's creation of the proposed Joe Louis Greenway, a 26-mile loop of bike and pedestrian pathways connecting neighborhoods throughout Detroit to the Detroit RiverWalk.

The greenway will provide safe access for walking, biking, and running while connecting parks, schools, historic sites, commercial corridors, public transit, and neighboring cities including Hamtramck, Highland Park, Ferndale, and Dearborn.

Part of a nearly 240-mile regional network of pathways designed to enhance economic competitiveness and expand transportation and recreational opportunities for residents.

Honors boxer Joe Louis and his contributions to Detroit and Michigan, serving as a lasting tribute following the planned demolition of the Joe Louis Arena.

Recognizes the importance of greenways and trails in providing healthy recreation and transportation opportunities for people of all ages and abilities.
