Appropriates not more than $200,000 from the general fund for grants to school districts to purchase one automated external defibrillator (AED) per district for use in schools offering grades 9-12.

Requires eligible districts to submit an application to the Department of Education in the form and manner prescribed by the department.

Mandates that district boards adopt a resolution committing to train at least 5 staff members in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and AED use, maintain their certification, and pay for ongoing maintenance and repair of each AED.

Requires districts to adopt and implement a cardiac emergency response plan as mandated under the Fire Prevention Code.

Grants are allocated to qualifying districts on a first-come, first-served basis, with districts able to choose which school building will house the AED.
