HB 4416 Summary

• Amends Michigan's sentencing guidelines (MCL 777.13k) to remove the crime of "disclosing confidential information regarding abortion" (MCL 333.2835(9)) from the list of felonies subject to sentencing guidelines.

• Eliminates the previous Class G felony designation for the abortion confidentiality disclosure offense, which carried a statutory maximum penalty of 3 years.

• Adds five felonies enumerated in Chapter 333 (Public Health Code) to the sentencing guidelines, including crimes related to embryo/fetus research, unauthorized Social Security number disclosure, HIV transmission, and healthcare fraud resulting in death.

• Takes effect 90 days after enactment.

• Contingent on enactment of HB 4417 or a related Senate Bill.
