Prohibits political subdivisions (counties, cities, villages, townships, municipal corporations, and special districts) from enacting ordinances, rules, or taxes on knives that are more restrictive than state law.

Defines "knife" as a cutting instrument including any sharpened or pointed blade, and covers transportation, possession, carrying, sale, transfer, purchase, gift, devise, licensing, registration, and use.

Prevents political subdivisions from enacting rules or ordinances relating to knife manufacturing that are more restrictive than rules applied to other commercial goods manufacturing.

Voids any existing or future rules and ordinances adopted by political subdivisions that conflict with these restrictions.

Known as the "Michigan Knife Rights Act."
