Effective October 1, 2020, telemedicine services are covered under Michigan's medical assistance program and Healthy Michigan program when provided at in-home or in-school originating sites, in addition to other approved locations.

Distant providers or organizations must verify recipient identification and program eligibility before delivering telemedicine services.

Distant providers or organizations must ensure telemedicine service information is communicated to the recipient's primary care provider.

Defines "originating site" as the location where the eligible recipient is physically located when receiving telemedicine services.

Defines "telemedicine" by reference to section 3476 of the 1956 Insurance Code (MCL 500.3476).
