School administrators must file and securely store copies of do-not-resuscitate (DNR) orders and POST forms (Physician Orders for Scope of Treatment) received from parents or guardians in separate designated files.

Administrators must provide actual notice of DNR orders and POST forms to all teachers and school employees who provide instructional or noninstructional services directly to the student, and inquire annually whether orders remain in effect.

School boards and governing bodies must ensure timely and appropriate training on DNR order and POST form compliance for employees based on their level of responsibility.

School administrators, teachers, and employees are protected from criminal and civil liability when calling 911 in emergencies or acting in good faith to comply with DNR orders and POST forms, except in cases of gross negligence or willful or wanton misconduct.

The act takes effect 90 days after enactment and is contingent on House Bill 5417 also being enacted into law.
