Allows licensed family and group child care homes with no pending disciplinary action to request departmental approval to care for 2 additional unrelated school-age children during before- or after-school hours.

Before- or after-school care is defined as child care during 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. on school days, excluding school breaks and holidays.

Approved operators are exempt from counting the 2 additional school-age children in the required child care personnel-to-children ratio under administrative rules.

The department must rescind approval for additional children if the operator receives a recommendation for disciplinary action, including provisional licensing, license refusal, revocation, or increased monitoring for substantial or willful violations.

Existing square footage requirements must be met to obtain departmental approval for caring for the additional children.
