HB 6150 Summary

• Authorizes the Department of Technology, Management, and Budget to convey or transfer approximately 124.6 acres of state-owned property in Marenisco Township, Gogebic County that is currently under the Department of Corrections' jurisdiction.

• Allows conveyance through competitive sale, direct sale to local government at fair market value, transfer to the state land bank authority, jurisdictional transfer to another state agency, property exchange, or discounted sale to local government with public use restrictions.

• Requires property sold at a discount to local government to be used exclusively for public use (correctional facilities, law enforcement, emergency management, education, transportation, parks, health, or wildlife conservation) for 30 years, with right of first refusal to the state if the local government attempts to sell within that period.

• Reserves to the state: half of all gross revenue from oil, gas, or mineral development; all aboriginal antiquities with exploration rights; and perpetual maintenance obligations if the property was designated as a historical monument, memorial, burial ground, park, or protected wildlife habitat.

• Requires state administrative board approval before conveyance and directs net revenue from property sales to be deposited in the state general fund.
