Amends MCL 600.8827 to clarify that a state civil infraction is not a lesser included offense of a criminal offense

Authorizes judges or district court magistrates to order defendants found responsible for state civil infractions to pay civil fines up to $500, costs, and a $10 justice system assessment

Allows courts to establish schedules of civil fines, costs, and assessments for state civil infractions that must be prominently posted and available for public inspection

Permits collection of unpaid fines, costs, or assessments through enforcement mechanisms under chapters 40 and 60; makes failure to comply with payment orders a misdemeanor

Takes effect October 1, 2021, contingent upon enactment of House Bill 5846
