• Requires public bodies (cities, villages, townships, counties, state departments) to designate a FOIA coordinator to accept and process public records requests and approve denials under the Freedom of Information Act.

• Allows a FOIA coordinator to designate another individual to act on their behalf in accepting and processing requests and approving denials.

• Requires public bodies to designate an alternate FOIA coordinator when a request pertains directly to the regular FOIA coordinator's official conduct or job duties.

• Requires an alternate FOIA coordinator when a request pertains directly to an announced opponent of the regular FOIA coordinator in an upcoming election for public office.
