Requires the unemployment agency to examine claims and begin paying benefits within 7 business days of receipt.

Imposes interest accrual at the rate specified in MCL 205.23 on all overdue benefits if payments do not begin within the 7-day period, continuing until the first benefit payment is made.

Interest owed to claimants is in addition to regular benefits and does not count as a benefit under the act.

Interest payments are not charged to the compensation fund or contingent fund and do not affect employer contribution rates.

Applies retroactively to all claims submitted on or after March 10, 2020.
