HB 6342 Summary

• Replaces mandatory language ("shall") with directory language ("must") throughout Section 3a of the Township and Village Public Improvement and Public Service Act.

• Modifies public notice requirements for dissolution hearings by a board of public service commissioners, requiring compliance with the Local Government Public Notice Act beginning January 1, 2022, instead of only newspaper publication.

• Removes the previous definition of "annual township election" from the main section and relocates it to a new subsection (5) at the end of the statute.

• Updates references from "pursuant to" to "under" in describing special assessment bonds issued under section 3.
