• Amends the 1871 law governing vacation of cemetery plats and grounds in incorporated cities and villages to modernize public notice requirements.

• For hearings held before January 1, 2022, notice must be published in a newspaper of general circulation in the county once weekly for 4 successive weeks before the hearing.

• For hearings held after December 31, 2021, notice must be posted under the local government public notice act between 14 and 30 days before the hearing date.

• Requires the petition to be signed, sworn to, and filed with the county clerk (rather than the register), and specifies it must include the filer's authority, reasons for the petition, and legal description of the cemetery location.

• Takes effect only if Senate Bill No. ____ or House Bill 6440 is also enacted into law.
