HB 6371 Summary

• Amends MCL 141.212 to modify how municipalities must notify the public when calling for tenders of defaulted bonds from special assessment or improvement districts.

• Changes the opening language from "Whenever" to "If" to clarify the conditions under which a municipality may call for bond tenders (bonds in default for more than 6 months with insufficient funds available).

• Requires municipalities to advertise calls for tenders of defaulted bonds in a newspaper with general circulation in the municipality at least 10 days before the tender deadline.

• Beginning January 1, 2022, requires municipalities to post public notice of bond tender calls using the local government public notice act procedures instead of or in addition to newspaper publication.

• Bill is contingent on enactment of HB 6440 or Senate Bill No. ____ (request no. 02449'19) of the 100th Legislature.
