HB 6408 Summary

• Changes the term "county board of supervisors" to "county board of commissioners" throughout the statute governing county work farms, factories, and shops.

• Allows county boards of commissioners that do not operate work farms, factories, or shops to enter into agreements with commissions to house persons sentenced to terms of imprisonment not exceeding 6 months.

• Requires counties entering into such agreements before January 1, 2022 to provide public notice by publication in a newspaper published within the county.

• Beginning January 1, 2022, counties entering into agreements must provide notice under the local government public notice act rather than newspaper publication.

• Enactment is contingent on passage of Senate Bill No. ____ or House Bill No. 6440 of the 100th Legislature.
