HB 6506 Summary

• Adds Section 2254 to the Public Health Code allowing businesses to continue operating during communicable disease epidemics if they comply with all health and safety precautions required of other operating businesses under emergency orders or department rules.

• Adds Section 2454 establishing the same exception for businesses operating under local health department emergency orders or regulations during communicable disease epidemics.

• Protects businesses from violation of closure orders or rules when they implement equivalent health and safety measures to those required of businesses permitted to remain open.

• Applies to both state-level emergency orders (Section 2253) and local health department orders (Section 2453) issued during communicable disease outbreaks.
