HB 6529 Summary

• Expands immunization documentation requirements to include students enrolling in grades 2, 5, or 7 for the first time, in addition to existing requirements for kindergarten and first-time enrollees.

• Removes the limitation of immunization requirements beginning in the 2014-2015 school year, making these requirements ongoing.

• Requires schools to report immunization status data to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services by November 1 and February 1 of each year for all new enrollees in grades K, 2, 5, and 7.

• Beginning in the 2021-2022 school year, mandates schools provide parents with information about immunization rates in their school, including total pupils enrolled, those with immunization documentation, and those with religious/objection waivers, delivered via email or mail and posted on school websites and in main reception areas.

• Takes effect 90 days after enactment and is contingent on passage of HB 6531.
