HB 6531 Summary

• Expands immunization certificate requirements to students entering grades 2, 5, and 7, in addition to first-time school registration requirements.

• Removes the January 1, 2014 effective date restriction that previously limited the requirement to students entering seventh grade.

• Requires parents or guardians to present a certificate of immunization or statement of exemption at registration or by the first day of school for the newly included grade levels.

• Changes reporting language from "upon entering" to "on entering" seventh grade in the department's annual immunization comparison report.

• Takes effect 90 days after enactment and is contingent on passage of HB 6529.
