Notes that home fires killed over 102 Michigan citizens in the prior year, with fire departments responding to more than 13,000 home fires in 2019.

Identifies cooking as the number one cause of home fires and home fire injuries, with unattended cooking being the leading cause of kitchen fires.

Adopts the 2020 Fire Prevention Month theme "Serve up fire safety in the kitchen" to educate the public about safe cooking habits.

Urges all Michigan residents to educate themselves on and practice safe cooking during the observance.
