MI HR0342

Grants the House Standing Committee on Oversight authority to administer oaths, issue subpoenas, and examine books and records related to the 2020 primary and general elections.

Authorizes the committee to compel testimony from witnesses and production of documents from persons, partnerships, corporations, and all state departments, boards, institutions, and agencies.

Establishes that violations of committee subpoenas or failure to testify may be punished as contempt of the legislature under MCL 4.101.

Invokes the Legislature's constitutional authority under the Michigan and U.S. Constitutions to regulate elections and prescribe election procedures.

Implements investigative powers pursuant to Rule 37 of the House Standing Rules and MCL 4.541, which authorize standing committees to conduct investigations.
