Local units of government are prohibited from requiring wrecker, recovery, or towing services to pay fees as a condition of contract or responding to impounds, accidents, disabled vehicles, or abandoned vehicles.

Local units of government are prohibited from accepting payments, commissions, or portions of service fees from wrecker, recovery, or towing services in exchange for securing business.

Wrecker, recovery, or towing services are prohibited from offering payments, fees, or commissions to local units of government to induce contract entry or business opportunities.

Restrictions apply only to contracts entered into or renewed after January 7, 2015.

Effective date: October 6, 2020 (90 days after enactment).
