Department of Education must develop age-appropriate informational material on sexual assault and sexual harassment by June 1, 2019, in consultation with experts including the Michigan domestic and sexual violence prevention and treatment board.

Informational material must include definitions of sexual assault and harassment, explanation that it is not the victim's fault, and resources available to victims including Title IX information and contact information for assistance organizations.

School districts, intermediate school districts, and public school academies must disseminate the material to all students in grades 6-12 and include Title IX coordinator contact information and school policies prohibiting retaliation for reporting incidents in student handbooks and on websites.

Beginning in the 2019-2020 school year, school boards are encouraged to partner with local domestic violence organizations to provide all educators and school personnel training at least every 5 years on responding to students who have experienced sexual assault or harassment.

Act takes effect 90 days after enactment into law.
