Employers with 50 or more employees at any single work site must post a notice in a conspicuous location informing employees of equal pay laws and their rights under federal and state law.

The required notice must state it is illegal to pay employees different wages for the same work based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, genetic information, disability, height, weight, or marital status.

The notice must include information about how employees can contact the Michigan Department of Civil Rights if they believe their employer violated equal pay laws, along with a dedicated telephone number and website address.

The Department of Civil Rights must maintain a dedicated telephone line and public website for reporting violations, with both allowing anonymous reporting and including an easy-to-use electronic complaint form.

Employers who violate the posting requirement may be ordered to pay a civil fine of up to $100, with the law taking effect 90 days after enactment.
