SB 508 Summary

• Replaces vague effective date language with specific date of December 29, 2006 for when the Commission must stop issuing tavern and class C licenses under section 521.

• Eliminates the prohibition on issuing specially designated merchant, specially designated distributor, or other off-premises alcohol sale licenses in conjunction with section 521 licenses.

• Updates references to development district laws from older statutes (1980 PA 450, 1986 PA 281, 1975 PA 197) to the recodified tax increment financing act, 2018 PA 57.

• Maintains existing requirements for section 521 license renewal including full-service restaurant status, 50% food revenue threshold, and location in qualifying development districts.
