SB 512 Summary

• Amends the Charter County Act (1966 PA 293) to modify language regarding county executive elections, changing "shall be" to "is elected" in counties with populations under 1,500,000.

• Adds exception language to section 14(c) referencing Michigan election law section 192a (MCL 168.192a) regarding partisan elections of sheriffs, prosecutors, county clerks, treasurers, and registers of deeds.

• Changes three instances of "which" to "that" as grammatical corrections throughout the statute in subsections (1)(d)(ii), (2), and (q).

• Takes effect 90 days after enactment, contingent upon Senate Bill 510 of the 100th Legislature being enacted into law (tie-bar provision).
