Senate Bill 680 Summary

• Amends the Michigan Code of Criminal Procedure sentencing guidelines (sections 11b and 16m of Chapter XVII) to update references from "pistol" to "firearm" in various felony offense descriptions.

• Changes terminology in multiple weapons-related offenses including firearm license applications, firearm sales records, concealed firearm permits, and firearm-related violations to use the term "firearm" instead of "pistol."

• Updates offense descriptions in both Chapter 28 (MCL 28.422(14), 28.422a(5), 28.425b(3), 28.425j(3)) and Chapter 750 (MCL 750.232a(3)) of the Michigan Compiled Laws to reflect modernized firearms terminology.

• Does not take effect unless Senate Bill No. 678 of the 100th Legislature is enacted into law (tie-bar provision).
