Requires the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services to provide an annual statistical report to legislative oversight committees detailing all deaths of mental health care recipients reported to the department, including deaths within 48 hours after discharge and deaths in state facilities.

Mandates the department include in the annual report information about whether investigations have been initiated regarding recipient deaths and the findings of those investigations.

Requires the department to investigate all deaths reported by psychiatric hospitals or psychiatric units that result from suicide or where the cause of death is unknown.

Effective date: March 24, 2021.
