SB 903 Summary

• Secretary of State may extend the renewal deadline for official state personal identification cards and waive late renewal penalties if the card expired during a declared state of disaster or emergency under the Emergency Management Act.

• Extended identification cards remain valid for 60 days after the state of disaster or emergency is terminated.

• Secretary of State may waive late renewal penalties for cards that expired within 1 week before a disaster/emergency declaration if the Secretary's office branches were already closed.

• The extension provisions do not apply to identification cards that were canceled or forfeited before the disaster or emergency declaration.

• Bill only takes effect if Senate Bills 902 and 904 of the 100th Legislature are also enacted into law.
